New york: Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, has extended sincere thanks to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), UN agencies, and donor countries for their prompt and effective support to Vietnam during severe natural disasters. Speaking at the High-level Pledging Event for the CERF held in New York, Viet emphasized the importance of international assistance in addressing the challenges posed by these natural calamities.
According to Vietnam News Agency, for two consecutive years, Vietnam has faced severe natural disasters, including Typhoon Yagi and repeated storms and floods. During these crises, Vietnam received crucial emergency assistance from CERF. The most recent support includes a sum of 2.6 million USD, which was instrumental in ensuring the timely delivery of essential relief to the affected communities.
Ambassador Viet highlighted the collaborative efforts of CERF, UN agencies, and donor countries, acknowledging their vital role in mitigating the impact of these natural disasters. The assistance provided has been pivotal in helping Vietnam manage the immediate aftermath of such events, ensuring that affected communities receive necessary support promptly.
