Hanoi:General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam welcomed General Khamlieng Outhakaisone, a Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of National Defence of Laos, for a meeting in Hanoi on October 14. The Lao official's visit is part of an official trip to Vietnam.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the visit coincides with the 10th annual meeting of the defence ministers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Additionally, it includes the fifth joint civil defence exercise among the militaries of the three countries.
