Vietnam, Laos Strengthen Defence Cooperation with New Border Guard Headquarters

Vientiane: Vietnam and Laos are strengthening defence cooperation, marked by the inauguration and handover of the headquarters of the Lao Border Guard Command at a ceremony held in Vientiane on April 23. Later the same day, Cuong visited Star Telecom (Unitel), a joint venture of Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group in Laos.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the ceremony signified a significant step in enhancing the defence ties between the two countries. The new headquarters is expected to play a crucial role in bolstering the operational capabilities of the Lao Border Guard Command, further solidifying the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos in defence matters.

The visit by Cuong to Star Telecom (Unitel) underscores the collaborative ventures in the telecommunications sector, highlighting the multifaceted nature of the partnership between the two nations. This joint venture between Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group and the Laotian entity exemplifies the economic and technological cooperation complementing their defence strategies.
