Hangzhou: Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung proposed four key directions for cooperation at the 11th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting, which took place in Hangzhou, China, on August 25. The meeting brought together agricultural leaders from the 21 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) member economies.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the minister emphasized the importance of enhancing food security across the region by focusing on sustainable agricultural practices, improving supply chain resilience, boosting technological innovation in farming, and fostering regional collaboration in food safety standards. These strategic directions aim to address the pressing challenges faced by APEC economies in ensuring food availability and accessibility for their populations.

The proposal by Minister Trinh Viet Hung received attention as the APEC member economies are increasingly concerned about the impacts of climate change, trade disruptions, and the ongoing challenges posed by the global pandemic on food security. The meeting served as a platform for discussing collaborative approaches to overcome these challenges and ensure a stable food supply across the region.

The 11th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting concluded with a call for continued dialogue and action among member economies to implement the proposed strategies effectively. The collaborative efforts are expected to contribute significantly to the region's ability to secure a sustainable and resilient food system.
