Vietnam Railways Unveils Hanoi Heritage Train and Biometric Ticketing System

Hanoi: The Vietnam Railways Corporation (VRC) launched the ‘Hanoi Five City Gates’ Train and a biometric ticket control system at the Hanoi Station. This initiative is part of 250 projects inaugurated or starting construction nationwide to commemorate the 80th National Day anniversary. From August 19, the biometric ticket authentication system using chip-based ID cards became operational at Hanoi Station. This system is set to integrate with the VNeID app, allowing passengers to verify tickets using electronic identification data, eliminating the need for physical ID cards.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the corporation also introduced the Hanoi Train, which draws inspiration from the historic gates of Thang Long – Hanoi. The train’s five carriages are named after these gates: O Cau Den, O Quan Chuong, O Cau Giay, O Cho Dua, and O Dong Mac, reflecting the capital’s rich thousand-year heritage.
