Work Starts on Strategic Dual-Use Airport in Capital Region

Bac ninh: The Ministry of Public Security held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Gia Binh International Airport project in Gia Binh commune, the northern province of Bac Ninh, on August 19. Covering nearly 2,000 hectares across the communes of Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Nhan Thang, and Lam Thao, Gia Binh International Airport is designed as a strategic dual-use airport in the Capital Region, serving civil aviation and also as the base of the Air Force Regiment of the People’s Public Security force.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the airport project aims to bolster both civil and military capabilities in the region. The dual-use nature of the airport signifies its importance in enhancing the operational readiness of the People’s Public Security force while simultaneously serving the increasing demands of civil aviation.

The strategic location of the airport is expected to contribute to the economic growth of the surrounding communes, promoting connectivity and fostering regional development. As a vital infrastructure project, Gia Binh International Airport will play a crucial role in the nation’s aviation sector, aligning with broader national security and economic objectives.
