Vietnam Ranks Second in Southeast Asia in Happiness Index

Hanoi: Vietnam has climbed to the 46th position in the 2025 World Happiness Report, up eight places from the 2023 rankings. The latest report, released on March 20 by the Wellbeing Research Centre at Oxford University, ranks 143 countries and territories based on citizens’ self-reported well-being. Vietnam’s steady progress in recent years has seen its position improve significantly, from 77th in 2021 to 65th in 2022 and 54th last year. The country now ranks second in Southeast Asia, behind only Singapore.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the report highlights Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to enhance the well-being and happiness of its citizens. The consistent rise in rankings over the past few years underscores the country’s commitment to improving living conditions and the overall quality of life for its people.

The World Happiness Report evaluates countries based on various factors, including income, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption. Vietnam’s improvement in these areas has contributed to its higher ranking. This achievement reflects the country’s focus on sustainable development and the well-being of its population as key priorities.

The report’s findings are expected to encourage further initiatives and policies aimed at maintaining and enhancing the levels of happiness and satisfaction among the Vietnamese people. As Vietnam continues to develop, its focus on the happiness index serves as a benchmark for measuring progress in societal well-being.
