Vietnam Readies Seven New Unit Types for UN Peacekeeping

Hanoi: Vietnam is preparing to deploy seven new unit types for the United Nations peacekeeping mission, signalling the country's deepening commitment to global security operations, said Director of the Ministry of National Defence's Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Maj. Gen Pham Manh Thang at an inter-agency task force meeting in Hanoi on May 27. Since May 2014, Vietnam has dispatched nearly 1,400 officers and professional personnel, including 32 police officers, to UN missions in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, the Abyei region, and a European Union training mission in the Central African Republic, as well as UN headquarters and its liaison office in Belgium.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the deployment of these new unit types is part of Vietnam's ongoing efforts to contribute to international peacekeeping. The country's involvement in various UN missions underscores its commitment to global peace and security. The new units will enhance Vietnam's capabilities in peacekeeping operations and provide further support to the UN's efforts in maintaining international stability.
