Hanoi: The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS)'s Central Committee, in coordination with the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi, held a ceremony on August 11 to hand over the token of 100 billion VND (around 3.82 million USD) in aid to the Cuban people on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro Ruz (August 13, 1926 - 2026). The sum was raised through the 2026 Humanitarian Month campaign to support the Cuban people.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the humanitarian gesture by the VRCS is a significant contribution to strengthening the relationship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba. The aid package aims to assist Cuba in overcoming economic challenges and enhancing the wellbeing of its citizens. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the VRCS to promote international cooperation and support in times of need.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from both countries, reflecting the deep-rooted ties that have been nurtured over decades. The VRCS has been consistently active in providing support to various countries, showcasing the spirit of global humanitarianism.
