Seoul: A Vietnam - Republic of Korea (RoK) co-production film about Grand Lord Tran Hung Dao, one of Vietnam's greatest military commanders, was unveiled in Seoul on April 23, launching full-scale production preparations with a hefty projected budget of around 30 billion KRW (20.3 million USD). The presentation, led by producer-director Shin Chang Seok, marked the first official event for the project in the RoK after their collaboration plan was announced in Vietnam last year.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the ambitious project aims to honor the legacy of Tran Hung Dao, who is celebrated for his strategic prowess and leadership during the wars against the Mongol invasions in the 13th century. The film is expected to highlight his military achievements and the historical significance of his contributions to Vietnam's national defense. The collaboration between Vietnam and the RoK is seen as a cultural exchange that will strengthen ties between the two countries through cinema.
The unveiling event in Seoul emphasized the importance of historical accuracy and cultural representation in the film. The production team, comprising experts from both Vietnam and the RoK, is dedicated to ensuring that the film authentically portrays the life and times of Tran Hung Dao. The project is anticipated to draw attention from both Vietnamese and international audiences, given the historical figure's prominence and the significant investment involved in the film's production.
