STOCKHOLM: The world’s leading container shipping company MSC has announced the expansion of its SWAN service starting in 2025, which will establish the first direct route between Sweden’s Port of Gothenburg and Vietnam’s southeastern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. This landmark announcement was made during a roundtable discussion and the Vietnam-Sweden business forum in Stockholm on November 12, attended by Vietnam’s Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and representatives from nine major Swedish companies.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the new direct shipping route is expected to significantly enhance trade relations between the two countries by facilitating more efficient transport of goods. The initiative represents a strategic development in international shipping, offering businesses in both countries improved access to markets and potentially boosting economic ties. This development aligns with the broader goals of strengthening bilateral trade and cooperation between Vietnam and Sweden.
