Haikou: The Vietnam Trade Promotion Office in Haikou city was inaugurated on April 8 in China's island province of Hainan, marking a step forward in strengthening economic and trade ties between Vietnam and China.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam's statistics indicate that bilateral trade reached 256 billion USD in 2025, reflecting a 24.7% increase year-on-year. Vietnam exported goods worth 70.4 billion USD to China while importing 186 billion USD from the neighboring country.
Meanwhile, Chinese data presented a different picture, showing total trade at 296.1 billion USD, up 13.67%. This included 97.9 billion USD in exports from Vietnam and 198.15 billion USD in imports. Despite overall strong trade relations, the trade between Vietnam and Hainan specifically remained modest, totaling approximately 1.4 billion USD in 2025. The new trade office is expected to enhance these figures, fostering stronger economic collaboration between Vietnam and China's Hainan province.
