Paris: Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang attended the funeral of Madeleine Riffaud, a renowned French poet, journalist, and revolutionary, in Paris. Riffaud, a close friend of the Vietnamese people, passed away on November 6 at the age of 100. Her funeral was held on November 20, where the ambassador paid his respects.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Madeleine Riffaud was one of the first foreign war correspondents invited to document the American invasion of Vietnam. Her work, including articles, photographs, and documentaries published in France, highlighted the resilience and bravery of the Vietnamese people from 1965 to 1973. Riffaud’s efforts played a significant role in garnering international support for Vietnam during a tumultuous period in the country’s history.
