Vietnamese Broken Rice Joins Menu of Japan’s Fast-Food Giant Chain

Tokyo: Japanese fast-food giant Matsuya has added ‘Vietnamese-style broken rice with pork’ to the menu of more than 1,100 outlets nationwide, marking a major step for Vietnamese cuisine to conquer the Japanese market. The launching event was held on August 26 at Matsuya’s Roppongi branch in Tokyo. Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu attended the event and introduced the dish to local media.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the introduction of Vietnamese-style broken rice into Matsuya’s menu highlights the growing popularity and influence of Vietnamese food in Japan. This move is seen as a significant cultural exchange, where Japanese consumers can experience authentic Vietnamese flavors in a fast-food setting. The inclusion of this dish is expected to attract both Vietnamese expatriates and local Japanese customers who are eager to explore international cuisines.
