Vietnamese Communities Celebrate Tet Traditions in Laos and Mozambique

Vientiane: The Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese bilingual school recently hosted a special event where both Lao and Vietnamese students came together to make traditional banh chung, a square glutinous rice cake, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026. This cultural activity took place on February 3 and aimed to bring students from different backgrounds together through the shared experience of preparing this traditional dish.

According to Vietnam News Agency, in Maputo, Mozambique, the Vietnamese community gathered on February 1 for the ‘Spring of the Homeland’ event. This reunion provided an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to come together, exchange stories, share laughter, and extend heartfelt Tet wishes to one another. The event served as a reminder of cultural ties and traditions despite being far from home.

Both events highlight the importance of cultural preservation and community bonding among Vietnamese people living abroad, as they continue to celebrate traditional customs and cherish their heritage during Tet.
