Vietnamese, Egyptian Presidents Hold Talks, Agree to Lift Ties to Comprehensive Partnership

Cairo: State President Luong Cuong and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on August 5 issued a joint statement on upgrading Vietnam – Egypt ties to a Comprehensive Partnership. The upgrade of the bilateral relationship came as the two leaders held a tªte- -tªte and official talks in Cairo as part of President Cuong’s state visit to Egypt.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the discussions between the two presidents focused on increasing cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, and culture. The leaders expressed mutual interest in deepening their countries’ collaboration in agriculture and tourism, which are seen as key areas for future growth.

The joint statement also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in their respective regions and highlighted the necessity of working together on international issues. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting multilateralism and adhering to international law. The elevation to a Comprehensive Partnership is expected to facilitate closer political dialogue and more frequent exchanges between the two nations.
