Vietnamese in Sri Lanka Gather for Early Tet Celebration

Colombo: The Vietnamese Embassy in Colombo hosted an early Lunar New Year celebration on January 5, bringing together hundreds of Vietnamese living and working in Sri Lanka. The event was also attended by the Secretary General of the Sri Lanka – Viet Nam Solidarity Association and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the gathering provided an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Sri Lanka to connect and celebrate their cultural heritage. The event featured traditional Vietnamese music, dance, and cuisine, allowing attendees to experience the customs and atmosphere of Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka highlighted the importance of such gatherings in strengthening the bonds between the Vietnamese community abroad and their homeland. The celebration also served to foster closer ties between Vietnam and Sri Lanka, emphasizing the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The early Tet celebration in Colombo was a significant event for the Vietnamese community, offering a sense of home and belonging while living abroad. It also allowed Sri Lankan attendees to gain insights into Vietnamese culture and traditions, further promoting cultural exchange and understanding between the two countries.
