Vientiane: The second "Future Vietnamese Language Ambassadors" contest, held recently in Vientiane, has highlighted the growing role of the Vietnamese language in fostering the special relations between Vietnam and Laos, while enhancing cultural exchange and practical cooperation between the two countries. Jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, and the Vietnamese Language Board under the Vietnamese People Association in Vientiane, the event was held in response to the Day for Honouring Vietnamese Language in Vietnamese Communities Abroad in 2026.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the contest serves as a significant platform for Vietnamese language learners in Laos, promoting linguistic proficiency and understanding of Vietnamese culture. Participants showcased their language skills through various activities designed to test their proficiency and cultural knowledge.
The event aimed to strengthen the bonds between the two nations by highlighting the importance of language as a tool for cultural exchange and cooperation. Organisers believe that initiatives like this contest contribute significantly to the educational and cultural ties between Vietnam and Laos, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
The contest also underscores the commitment of both countries to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language among the Vietnamese communities abroad, ensuring that cultural heritage remains a vital link between Vietnam and its international communities.
