Vietnamese, Lao PMs Co-Chair Investment Promotion Conference in Vientiane

Vientiane: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone co-chaired the Vietnam – Laos investment promotion conference in Vientiane on December 3, mapping out ways to realise major economic, investment, and trade goals agreed for 2026 and the 2026-2030 period. Under the witness of both PMs, enterprises from both countries signed and exchanged nine cooperation agreements across multiple sectors. It was PM Chinh’s final activity during his visit to Laos, where he attended an annual high-level meeting between the two Parties and co-chaired the 48th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee on Bilateral Cooperation. He departed Vientiane for Hanoi in the evening, wrapping up a successful working trip.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the conference represented a significant step in strengthening the economic ties between the two nations. The agreements signed during the conference cover a range of sectors, indicating a broadening of cooperation that aims to foster economic growth and development in both Vietnam and Laos. The discussions focused on enhancing trade links, increasing investment flow, and promoting sustainable development initiatives that align with the strategic goals set for the coming years.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of both governments to facilitate a more conducive environment for business collaboration. By co-chairing the conference, PM Chinh and PM Siphandone demonstrated their dedication to deepening the bilateral relationship, which has been marked by mutual support and shared economic interests. The agreements are expected to pave the way for future projects that will benefit both economies and strengthen the partnership between Vietnam and Laos.
