Vietnam’s Communist Party Focuses on Self-Renewal and Self-Rectification

Hanoi:The Communist Party of Vietnam is intensifying its efforts to enhance its capacity for self-renewal and self-rectification, as emphasized by General Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President To Lam during the opening of the fourth meeting of the 14th Party Central Committee.

According to Vietnam News Agency, genuine self-renewal and self-rectification are critical to addressing identified weaknesses and ensuring that procedures lead to the selection of suitable individuals. These tasks are seen as fundamental for maintaining the Party's leadership and the socialist regime's survival.

The Party has been navigating leadership within a socialist-oriented market economy amidst deep international integration and global changes. Continuous self-cultivation is essential to prevent issues like individualism, bureaucracy, and corruption among Party officials and members. Self-rectification is vital for keeping the Party's integrity intact and preventing internal 'self-evolution' and 'self-transformation.'

For individuals, self-examination involves daily reflection on personal thoughts and actions, acknowledging weaknesses, and cultivating ethics as a regular habit. For the Party as an organization, self-rectification is complemented by assessments from the public, which serve as a mirror for officials and Party members to improve.

The Party values public feedback as it effectively reflects shortcomings and mistakes, helping to strengthen public trust. Public participation is facilitated through feedback mechanisms, dialogues, and supervision groups, which contribute to the Party's building and rectification process.

The Party's 15-year journey of renewal and rectification, spanning from 2012 to 2026, highlights significant advancements in leadership capacity. The fourth plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee aims to review the effectiveness of these efforts in addressing challenges and improving public trust.

General Secretary and President Lam urged the Party Central Committee to confront persistent shortcomings and enhance its capacity for self-renewal. He emphasized the need for new resolutions to address root causes and clearly assign responsibility, particularly within central leadership and advisory bodies.
