Dak lak: On-land coral reefs on Yen islet in the former Phu Yen province, now part of Dak Lak province, are among the notable attractions along the south-central coast of Vietnam. These coral reefs are distinctive, as they are located on land and become visible during low tide, offering a spectacular view to visitors.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Yen islet hosts 17 different coral species, with cloud-shaped corals being the most prevalent. These reefs, recognized as a national scenic relic site in 2018, provide habitat to a variety of marine life, including small fishes, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and starfish, all of which interact with the coral environment. The reefs’ exposure during low tide allows for a unique opportunity to observe the diverse marine ecosystem thriving in this area.
