Hanoi: The Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group has coordinated with mobile network operators Vinaphone and Mobifone to speedily deploy 1,700 5G Open RAN base stations ahead of the 80th anniversary of the country’s August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2). The stations, including 500 BTS (Base Transceiver Station), aim to ensure rapid and stable Internet services for locals and visitors to the capital city on the occasion of the big anniversary.
According to Vietnam News Agency, this collaboration among the telecom giants is part of an effort to enhance connectivity and support the influx of people expected to attend the celebrations. The deployment of the 5G Open RAN technology is also seen as a step forward in modernizing the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
The quick installation of these base stations is expected to provide improved mobile network services, catering to the increased data demands during the significant national events. The initiative highlights the importance placed on digital infrastructure as the country commemorates these pivotal moments in its history.
