Village in Hoi An Recycles Firewood into Art Works

Hoi an: From logs and pieces of wood salvaged from the floodwaters on Thu Bon river during the rainy season, carpenters at the Cui Lu (Floodwood) village in Hoi An ancient town of Da Nang central city rebirthed them into art works such as human and animal figurines. Once regarded as debris left behind by natural disasters, drifted wood pieces are treasured and crafted by artisans into unique sculptures that reflect the spirit of the river and the memories of the flood seasons in Central Vietnam.

According to Vietnam News Agency, artisans at the Cui Lu village through their skilled hands are persistently paving their own path: preserving traditional essence while innovating designs and the way they tell the story of their products.
