GamerPay Raises $2 Million and Enters Partnership With Esport Team Ninjas in Pyjamas to Fight Scamming for Millions of Dollars

$1 million dollars, that is how much 5.000 gamers have been scammed for in trades for gaming outfits and assets and with 3.2 billion gamers worldwide this is just the tip of the iceberg. That is the problem GamerPay is trying to solve globally by offering a safe marketplace.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Oct. 27, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — “Games are for many becoming the replacement for social media. We spent more and more hours playing games with our friends online everyday. It has led to a boom in sales of digital outfits, known as skins. You have to consider it as buying clothes in the real world. If you want to stand out you might buy Balmain in the real world and a so-called Dragon Lore when you are on the server at home in the bedroom. Unfortunately online scamming is much easier than in the real world,” says Martin Lykke Suhr, co-founder of GamerPay.

GamerPay launched their marketplace in May, where it is possible to trade skins safely also if you are a minor under 18. The first game to serve is Counter-Strike, a leading esport title and more titles are coming. We already see that we are making a difference for the gamers. Witnessing all the great feedback and positivity from the Counter-Strike community is really fuelling the team to build something extraordinary. Coupled with a strong fundraising effort, where we had to turn down investors as we oversubscribed so fast, is making us very excited for the future. With this team and our new investors on board we believe that within 5-7 years a yearly revenue mark of 100 million dollars is possible, Martin Lykke Suhr continues.

In acknowledgement of the size of the problem and the potential of the team, Gamerpay was accepted into Y Combinator (incl. an investment), a prominent American accelerator known for developing unicorns like Airbnb, Stripe, Coinbase, Twitch and more. As managing partner, Michael Seibel states “When I first heard how many players get scammed when trading gaming skins and assets I was concerned. That’s why I was so excited to invest in GamerPay and have them participate in the YC Summer 2021 batch.”

Following Y Combinator, GamerPay has closed their seed round of $2 million dollars from VCs including FoundersClub (US), PreSeed Ventures (DK), Skyfall (NO) and in addition a range of prominent angel investors like Aleksander Leonard Larsen; co-founder Axie Infinity, Heini Zachariassen; co-founder of Vivino and more.

On the commercial side, GamerPay entered a formal partnership with Ninjas In Pyjamas (NIP), a leading esport team, who like GamerPay has high ambitions to eradicate scamming from gaming so that adults and youngsters under 18 can safely buy and sell skins without the fear of monetary loss.

“The scam problem surrounding skin trading has existed in Counter-Strike for many years. It’s harmful to our communities, and adds a negative impact on how esports as a whole is perceived when new fans and followers try to get involved. Partnering up with GamerPay to further push the agenda of secure and trustworthy skin trading, is an absolute no-brainer for us. We have a shared ethos of doing good for esports as a whole, and they are forged from an incredibly passionate and strong community of people, who truly wish for positive change. It’s a perfect match, and something we’re very excited about doing together,” says Jonas Gundersen, COO at Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Schneider Electric’s third-quarter sustainability progress focuses on urgent climate action and meeting 2021 full year commitments

Schneider Electric’s third-quarter sustainability progress focuses on urgent climate action and meeting 2021 full year commitments

Rueil-Malmaison (France), October 27, 2021 Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, published today the detail of third-quarter progress on its 2021-2025 sustainability impact targets. Named as the world’s most sustainable corporation 2021 by the Corporate Knights Global 100 Index, Schneider Electric had announced the acceleration of its sustainability strategy in January 2021, aligned to ongoing commitments to climate, resources, trust, equal opportunities, generations, and local communities.

Schneider Electric continues to engage in positive climate action with the broader business ecosystem by expanding its global sustainability consulting business, and helping organizations make meaningful decarbonization progress. Most recently, Schneider extended its climate strategy partnerships with Velux, Alfa Laval and DuPont. In addition, the ambitious Zero Carbon Project proceeds to sustainably transform Schneider’s top 1,000 suppliers by halving their CO2 emissions by 2025.

“We know that addressing climate change is the defining issue of our generation, and that businesses play a key role – but we also know that we must go faster if we are to avoid the worst impacts of warming this century,” said Olivier Blum, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer for Schneider Electric. “By combining our own experience in sustainability with our market-leading services in decarbonization and energy strategy and action, we can escalate the transition to a cleaner, greener future.”

This progress comes against the backdrop of the recent publication of the Sixth Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projecting 1.5°C of global warming above pre-industrial levels by 2028-35 ─ roughly a decade earlier than it had previously warned. This has intensified global attention in the run-up to the United Nations conferences on biodiversity (COP15) and climate (COP26) in Kunming (China) from October 12 to 15 and in Glasgow (United Kingdom) from October 31 to November 12, respectively.

The 2030 imperative: A race against time research report produced by the Schneider Electric Research Institute also reiterates the urgent need to reduce emissions by rapidly decarbonizing buildings, transport, and industry with smart, green electricity and next-generation automation. Schneider Electric’s proven digital technologies to help address climate change and biodiversity loss have been showcased on the World Economic Forum’s Net Zero Carbon Cities Toolbox and the Global Footprint Network’s 100 Days of Possibility online platforms. Example solutions and case studies include Schneider Electric’s 26,000 square meter smart office park Intencity in Grenoble (France), which is home to 5,000 employees, yet only consumes 37-kilowatt hours per square meter each year — nearly 10 times less energy than the average European building, thanks to rooftop solar panels, onsite wind turbines and technology to share and coordinate energy with a neighboring community microgrid.

Schneider has continued to deliver on its 2021-2025 Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program including its long-term commitment to harness the power of all generations, by fostering learning, upskilling, and the development of each generation while paving the way for the next. Schneider has now trained over 300,000 young people in energy management, including recent engagement the Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs in Bangladesh.
The SSI results rounded off the third-quarter with a total score of 3.65/10, still on track to reach the full-year target set at 3.75/10.

Detailed results and highlights of the SSI program are presented in the Q3 report, which includes the following overview:

Ambarella to Acquire Oculii; Radar Perception AI Algorithm Global Leader

Ambarella, Inc. today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ohio-based Oculii Corporation. Oculii’s adaptive AI software algorithms are designed to enable radar perception using current production radar chips to achieve significantly higher (up to 100X) resolution, longer range and greater accuracy.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Ambarella, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMBA), an AI vision silicon company, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ohio-based Oculii Corporation (“Oculii”). Oculii’s adaptive AI software algorithms are designed to enable radar perception using current production radar chips to achieve significantly higher (up to 100X) resolution, longer range and greater accuracy. These improvements eliminate the need for specialized high-resolution radar chips, which have significantly higher power consumption and cost than conventional radar solutions. Oculii’s software can be deployed on Ambarella’s existing CVflow® SoCs, operating in conjunction with leading radar RF solutions to increase safety and reliability.

The acquisition expands Ambarella’s addressable market into radar perception and fusion with its existing edge AI CV perception SoCs for automotive and other IoT endpoint applications, including mobile robotics and security. The fusion of Ambarella’s camera technology and Oculii’s radar software stack provides an all-weather, low-cost and scalable perception solution, enabling higher levels of autonomy for automotive tier 1s and OEMs globally.

“The Oculii team brings great synergies with Ambarella’s algorithm-first approach and our ongoing initiatives to intelligently fuse sensor data in edge AI systems,” said Fermi Wang, president and CEO of Ambarella. “We expect Oculii’s unique adaptive radar perception algorithms, combined with Ambarella’s vision and AI processing, to unlock greater levels of perception accuracy than previously attainable with discrete camera and radar solutions.”

“Joining Ambarella will enable Oculii to expand the development of our radar technology while leveraging our synergies as part of this leading vision and AI processor company,” said Steven Hong, CEO of Oculii. “We look forward to working with our customers and silicon partners to deliver complete AI perception solutions, based on the combined strengths of our innovative engineering teams and advanced radar and computer vision technologies.”

Oculii’s superior resolution and sensitivity can unlock the potential of everything from advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles to robotics and security, by providing radar with a dynamic waveform that uses AI to learn from and adapt to the environment. The result is an extended operating range of up to 400 meters with a wide field of view.

To date, Oculii is engaged with 10 of the top 15 tier 1s on software licensing, and has commercial development contracts with leading OEM and AV companies. Oculii is generating pre-production revenue today, with production programs expected to commence in CY2023.

The boards of directors at both companies have approved the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions and expected to close during Ambarella’s Q4 FY2022 (ending January 31, 2022). Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati served as legal advisor to Ambarella, and Goodwin Procter served as legal advisor to Oculii. Greenhill & Co. served as financial advisor to Ambarella.

Prague workshop talks wildlife conservation

Regulations on the transportation of products made from rare plants and animals to the Czech Republic and the EU were under focus at a workshop in Prague on October 26.

At the event co-held by the Czech Ministry of the Environment and the Czech – Vietnam education centre in Prague, the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic detailed regulations on goods hailing from Vietnam.

Accordingly, the Czech Republic has tightened control of goods, gifts, food, nutritional supplements, and traditional medicine made from rare animals and plants brought into the European country.

In his opening remarks, Czech Deputy Minister of the Environment Vladimir Dolejsky said the event aimed to gain an insight into the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) so as to help improve public awareness of environmental protection and rare animal conservation.

Speakers held that many wild and rare species have become extinct in the nature or are currently on the brink of extinction as a result of climate change, habitat loss, and especially poaching and trafficking.

They noted each wildlife species is a contribution to biodiversity and natural balance, thereby helping to prevent natural disasters. The disappearance of a species will break the balance of nature and lead to subsequent impacts on other species, including humans.

Participants proposed several solutions for conserving endangered species and biodiversity, including preventing wildlife trafficking and minimising human-caused environmental destruction./.

Vice President meets acting Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Bulgaria

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev in Sofia on October 26, during her ongoing official visit to the European nation.

During the working sessions, Xuan affirmed that leaders and people of Vietnam always apprecitate sentiments and support from the government and people of Bulgaria for the Southeast Asian nation in the past more than 70 years, while expressing her hope for strengthening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the countries in all fields.

Xuan spoke highly of the sound diplomatic ties between the two countries, with regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations and close and effective cooperation at international and regional forums.

She underlined that the two governments need to step up exchanges between ministries and sectors, especially economic management agencies, to seek solutions to promote trade and investment cooperation, based on the sides’ strengths and potential.

They are urged to capitalise on chances brought by the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

Xuan took the occasion to ask the Bulgarian government to support the EU’s removal of the ‘yellow card’ on Vietnam’s fisheries sector, and work together to hold a meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic Trade and Scientific Technological Cooperation.

She affirmed that Vietnam is willing to create favourable conditions for Bulgarian firms to invest and operate in Vietnam, especially in fields that the European nation is strong in and Vietnam has demand for, like pharmaceutical products, food processing and information technology.

She suggested the two sides enhance cooperation in traditional fields as well as the potential ones of labour, innovation and clean energy.

Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev affirmed that Vietnam is a priority partner of the country in Asia, saying that the Bulgarian government will urge the parliament to promptly ratify the EVIPA.

The Bulgarian government will also bolster bilateral cooperation in all spheres, especially economy and trade-investment, Yanev said, affirming that Bulgaria will soon complete necessary procedures to ink agreements in culture and tourism in the new period.

For his part, Foreign Minister Svetlan Stoev congratulated Vietnam on successfully undertaking the ASEAN Chairmanship last year and serving as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

He proposed the two countries increase high-level dialogues and maintain political consultations between foreign ministries.

Vietnam and Bulgaria should effectively take advantage of resources from former students and the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria to promote the traditional friendship in various fields, notably trade, investment, education, culture, people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between localities.

Also on October 26, the Vietnamese Vice President attended a Vietnam-Bulgaria business forum with the participation of 30 firms from both sides. She also visited Sopharma, Bulgaria’s largest pharmaceutical group.
