CANNES, France, June 23, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Reckitt, the company behind some of the world’s most recognizable and trusted consumer brands, was awarded six Cannes Lions – including its first-ever Gold Lion – at the 70th Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, the most prestigious international advertising and creativity showcase.

Reckitt’s winning work includes:

  • GOLD in Creative Strategy: Vanish Me, My Autism & I (U.K.)
  • SILVER in Film, Craft, Casting: Vanish Me, My Autism & I (U.K.)
  • BRONZE in Health & Wellness: Durex The Art of Sex (POL)

Vanish, a Gold Winner in the Creative Strategy category, created a campaign, in partnership with Havas, that addressed unrecognized truths about autism – that for most autistic people, familiar and consistent clothing can help with sensory regulation and provide a source of comfort. The campaign set out to nurture a conversation that breaks down myths and broadens the public’s understanding of autism – particularly in girls – through powerful stories.

DE&I & SUSTAINABILITY
Reckitt’s presence at the Cannes Lions Festival focused on championing the value and transformative power of creative work to advance societal change, as well as move business goals forward.

On Thursday, June 22, Fabrice Beaulieu, Global Chief Marketing, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Reckitt, was recognized as Brand Advertiser of the Year, by ACT Responsible, a global association that promotes the best advertising campaigns concerning social and environmental issues from around the world.

“Reckitt’s recognition at Cannes is a very important milestone for our entire organization,” Beaulieu said. “Our commitment to putting sustainability efforts at the core of each of our brands has unleashed creativity to solve the world’s most critical challenges through behaviour change that creates value, drives effectiveness and leaves a positive impact on communities.”

Reckitt’s commitment also helped to influence the wider Cannes community, with its Global Creativity and Diversity & Inclusion Director, Marketing, Efrain Ayala, serving on the Glass Lions jury, for the first time, where he brought the perspective of how brands should be creating authentic, systematic change. With his role as a WFA Global Diversity Ambassador, in tandem with his role at Reckitt, Ayala was able to bring his expertise to Cannes and impart its most valuable aspects to the industry at-large.

The Glass Lions celebrates culture-shifting creativity and work that explicitly addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice, through the conscious representation of gender in advertising.

ONSITE ACTIVATIONS
Reckitt’s auto dishwashing brand Finish hosted a #SkipTheRinse activation within the Palais de Festivals. This included a branded pop-up space featuring visuals of regions around the world that are at risk from water scarcity. Reckitt invited creatives to pitch ideas for how to further evolve the #SkipTheRinse campaign through a competition to crowdsource creativity. The winner will receive a fully paid trip to Cannes Lions 2024 and may have their idea adopted by Reckitt.

As part of Reckitt’s speaker line-up, Afropop sensation Yemi Alade took to the Palais stage as Global Ambassador of the WiNFUND. Alade shared how she supports women entrepreneurs across Africa to improve access to healthcare through the WiNFUND, which provides investment, business support and mentoring for women-led start-ups and entrepreneurs working to improve community access to healthcare.

“Reckitt and WiNFUND remain committed to empowering women-led health innovation with meaningful impacts in local communities,” said Patty O’Hayer, Global Head of External Communications & Affairs, Reckitt and WiNFUND co-founder.

Tickets are now on sale for a concert streaming event on 1 July with Yemi Alade. Tickets may be purchased online here: https://winfundnft.org/new-event/

Trench Metals Athabasca Basin Projects

Trench Metals has the right to acquire a 100% interest in two highly prospective uranium projects in Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Uranium district.

(“Trench Metals” or the “Company”) (TSXV: TMC, FWB: 33H2) is pleased to unveil the details of its 2023 prospecting program at the Company’s Higginson Lake Uranium Project in Northern Saskatchewan. The program seeks to capitalize on the success of the 2022 program, which yielded promising results at the Peterson Rapids Showing.

The Peterson Rapids Showing, situated just southeast of the rapids between Peterson and Higginson Lake, approximately 11.3 kilometers southeast of Charlebois Lake, exhibited promising indicators during last year’s campaign. As a result, Trench Metals is set to undertake extensive subsequent activities to delve deeper into this prospective zone.

Additionally, the Company will broaden its investigative scope to incorporate the Charlebois Lake Showings and Dianne Uranium Showings, situated about 7 kilometers southeast of the Higginson Lake Uranium Project. These regions present significant potential for uranium deposits and warrant thorough examination to uncover their true resource potential.

The Company’s 2023 Prospecting program will employ cutting-edge technology, utilizing state-of-the-art scintillometers. These advanced instruments will play a vital role in identifying high-priority targets for trenching and drilling. The Company aims to maximize efficiency and expedite the exploration process by employing man-portable drills.

“We are pleased to announce our comprehensive work program for the Higginson Lake Uranium Project in Northern Saskatchewan,” said Simon Cheng, CEO of Trench Metals. “Building upon the positive results from our 2022 program, we are confident that the upcoming prospecting activities, aided by advanced scintillometers, will allow us to identify prospective targets and unlock the potential of this highly prospective region.”

Indonesian gov’t continues to pay for COVID-19 vaccine, treatment

The Indonesian government will continue to pay for COVID-19 vaccination and treatment, spokesperson for the country’s COVID-19 task force, Wiku Adisasmitos announced on June 22.

The statement came a day after Indonesia declared an end to the pandemic status for COVID-19 after most Indonesians had developed antibodies against the virus.

Government data shows 86.87% of the targeted 234.6 million people have got their first COVID-19 dose, and about 74.54 % have received their second dose.

The vaccination rate for the third dose stood at 38.01%, and Indonesia still needs to work on this, Wiku said.

Indonesia's medical experts have also urged people to take care of their own health as well as those around them, reiterating the government's recommendation to use masks if they feel unwell, or pose any chance of spreading COVID-19 through coughing or sneezing.

On June 21, Indonesia's state health insurance company BPJS Kesehatan announced that it will continue to pay treatment costs for National Health Insurance (JKN) participants infected with COVID-19./.

Hanoi fulfils 70% of yearly job creation plan

The capital city of Hanoi has created jobs for 113,418 workers in the first six months of this year, achieving 70% of the year’s plan thanks to the implementation of numerous solutions, including increasing the frequency of job fairs, according to the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Hanoi Employment Service Centre (HESC) has organised 124 job fairs during the review period with the participation of 3,635 enterprises, during which more than 8,800 people were recruited.

The centre has also coordinated with enterprises and vocational education institutions to speed up the training of labourers. Students and trainees have been helped to find jobs right after graduation.

However, the number of jobs generated in the first six months of 2023 fell by 4.5% compared to the same period last year. The decrease in job creation is attributed to difficulties faced by many businesses as a result of a decline in orders from major markets, rising fuel prices and high interest rates.

A shortage of staff for labour and employment affairs in some localities has resulted in a low number of workers who take part in vocational training.

To achieve the target of helping 162,000 workers find employment this year, the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will suggest the city’s administration issue a plan on collecting labour market information for 2023.

The department will direct the HESC to gather and provide information on recruitment and labour export through various channels for labourers and increase orientation work for vocational training and employment opportunities for workers.

Last year, Hanoi created jobs for 203,027 people, surpassing the set target of 160,000 people a year by 2025. Of the total, more than 116,742 people found jobs through employment counseling services, and 62,700 others obtain employment through preferential loans for job generation./.

Expert optimistic about future of RoK – Vietnam relations

An expert of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has expressed his optimism about the future of the RoK - Vietnam relations, and said the ongoing State visit by his country’s President Yoon Suk Yeol could probably provide a catalyst for the future progress of bilateral relations.

Talking to the Vietnam News Agency, Prof. Choe Won-gi, head of the Centre for ASEAN - India Studies at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), said that the June 22-24 visit is very important because Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country that President Yoon has visited after he took office in 2022, which implies that Vietnam is very important for the RoK.

Last year, when diplomatic relations turned 30, Vietnam and the RoK agreed to upgrade the bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the highest level of bilateral relations that Vietnam has, he noted, perceiving that for the last 30 years since the diplomatic relation establishment, bilateral cooperation has been very successful, and Vietnam has become one of the most important economic partners of the RoK.

The economic cooperation has been very successful, on the basis of which he said it is necessary to prepare for the future and upgrade the relations. “For now, what is most important is to substantiate the comprehensive strategic partnership, so we have to move from just economic partnership to more comprehensive partnership.”

Looking from the strategic perspective, the RoK and Vietnam have a very high level of strategic conversions, a lot of shared interests in the fields of economy and security, even socio-economic areas. For example, about 9,000 Korean factories are operating in Vietnam and about almost 200,000 Korean people and a similar number of Vietnamse are living in each others’ countries, so the level of social and cultural bond is very high, Choe went on.

“I'm very optimistic about the future of our bilateral relations and the visit of President Yoon to Vietnam this time could probably provide a catalyst for the future progress of our bilateral relations,” the professor said.

He held that the bilateral relationship is very successful, both the RoK and Vietnam should prepare for the next stage of cooperation of the comprehensive strategic partnership in order to overcome the limitations of the just economic cooperation. They should expand the areas of cooperation from economics, trade and investment to diplomacy, defense, and industrial cooperation.

Overall, it is necessary to make a very concrete roadmap to implement the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement so that the countries have substantive progress in terms of deepening and expanding cooperation not only in economic areas but diplomatic area, security area, and strategic areas as well, according to Choe.

Vietnam is now a key member of ASEAN. As the RoK is planning to upgrade the RoK - ASEAN relations to another comprehensive strategic partnership and Vietnam is the coordinator of the RoK - ASEAN relations, the two sides have many important overlapping interests.

The two countries need to work on that, he said, adding he is very optimistic about the future prospect of Vietnam's development, and the diplomatic profile of Vietnam not only in ASEAN but also on the global stage has increased quite a lot which is very good news for the RoK.

President Yoon’s visit has also grabbed the headlines of the Korean media.

Newsis, a privately owned news agency in the RoK, reported that the President would have talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Vo Van Thuong to discuss measures for enhancing the two countries’ cooperation, especially in economic affairs, and also meet with other top leaders of Vietnam – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on the second day of the trip, on June 23.

About President Yoon’s attendance in a business forum with the participation of about 500 Korean and Vietnamese companies, Donga Ilbo newspaper said since taking office in May 2022, this is the first time President Yoon has made an overseas trip with such a large economic delegation.

The visit is considered the start of the new 30 years of bilateral relations. The RoK leader chooses Vietnam, one of its major trading partners, as the first ASEAN destination to pay a visit to and also takes this as a milestone in consolidating policies and foster the levels of partnerships in economy, supply chains, security, and culture.

The Yonhap News Agency, national broadcaster KBS, and such big newspapers as Joongang Ilbo and Chosun Ilbo emphasised the large economic delegation accompanying President Yoon during the trip. They underlined the importance of Vietnam as the most important manufacturing base of the RoK and also a large trading partner of the RoK in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, naver.com also said this is the biggest economic delegation since the Government of President Yoon was sworn in May 2022. Its members include Executive Chairman of Samsung Electronics Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of the SK Group Choi Tae-won who is currently Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Chung Eui-sun, and Chairman of the LG Group Koo Kwang-mo. Leaders of enterprises from other sectors are also expected to take part in broad discussions with Vietnamese partners./.
