Hanoi: ASEAN Family Day 2026 was recently held in the suburbs of New York, bringing together ambassadors, heads of missions, officials, staff members of the permanent missions to the United Nations (UN) and the Consulates General of ASEAN member states in the US city and their families. Notably, this was the first time Timor-Leste joined the event as a full ASEAN member.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the gathering aimed to strengthen community ties and promote the ASEAN spirit among the participants. The event offered an opportunity for ASEAN diplomats and their families to engage in cultural exchanges and reinforce relations within the ASEAN community in New York. The inclusion of Timor-Leste as a full member added a new dimension to the event, highlighting the growing cohesion and inclusivity of the ASEAN group.
