Hanoi: Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has called for a genuine shift across the political system and society, from simply caring for older persons to treating them as a driver of rapid, sustainable economic development. Chairing a conference of the National Committee on Aging, Tra, who is also its Chairwoman, emphasized the Party and State's special attention to elderly affairs. She highlighted that awareness across the entire political system and society has become increasingly clear, comprehensive, and positive.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Tra assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to lead a comprehensive communications campaign on elderly affairs. The campaign aims to reshape societal perspectives on the role of older persons, recognizing them as essential contributors to the nation's growth and development rather than merely recipients of care. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate elderly issues into the national development agenda, ensuring their active participation in the economic and social spheres.
