ASEAN Regional Forum Adopts Manila Plan of Action for 2026-2036

Hanoi: The 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) convened on July 23 as part of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-59) and Related Meetings in the Philippines, formally adopting the Manila Plan of Action for 2026-2036, which will serve as the guiding framework for the ARF's activities over the coming decade. Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung delivered a speech at the meeting.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Manila Plan of Action outlines strategic goals and initiatives intended to enhance regional cooperation and security among ASEAN member states and partners. The plan is expected to address various regional challenges and promote peace, stability, and prosperity in Southeast Asia over the next ten years.

The formal adoption of the plan marks a significant step for the ARF, highlighting the commitment of ASEAN countries to work collaboratively towards shared objectives. The ARF aims to utilize the plan as a roadmap to tackle pressing issues such as maritime security, counter-terrorism, and climate change, while also fostering economic growth and development.

The participation of key ASEAN member states and dialogue partners in the ARF underscores the importance of multilateral dialogue and cooperation in addressing complex regional and global challenges. With the Manila Plan of Action in place, ASEAN leaders are poised to strengthen ties and enhance mutual understanding among nations in the region.
