Hanoi: Flooding in Vietnam’s central and Central Highlands regions has caused an estimated 13.078 trillion VND (496 million USD) in economic damage, according to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Flooding has damaged 82,147 ha of rice and seasonal crops, 117,067 ha of perennial crops, killed or swept away more than 3.3 million livestock and poultry, and affected 1,157 ha of aquaculture. Floods and landslides have left 102 people dead, 11 missing, 221 homes destroyed and 933 others damaged.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the floods have significantly impacted the agricultural sector, with widespread damage to crops and livestock. The destruction of 82,147 ha of rice and seasonal crops, along with 117,067 ha of perennial crops, highlights the severity of the situation. Additionally, more than 3.3 million livestock and poultry have been killed or swept away, further compounding the economic losses.
The floods have also taken a toll on aqu
aculture, affecting 1,157 ha of facilities. Human casualties have been severe, with 102 people confirmed dead and 11 still missing. The disaster has destroyed 221 homes and damaged another 933, displacing numerous families and causing extensive hardship for the affected communities.
Efforts are underway to provide relief and support to those impacted by the floods, as authorities work to assess the full extent of the damage and implement recovery measures.
