Committee Urges Stronger Shift to Preventive Efforts in Corruption Combat

Hanoi: Standing members of the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness and Negative Phenomena have urged a stronger focus on preventing such practices. They emphasize the need for early intervention by promptly addressing loopholes and improving institutional frameworks. Party General Secretary To Lam, who heads the steering committee, chaired a recent meeting to review ongoing cases of corruption, wastefulness, and misconduct since the committee’s previous session on July 7. The meeting also aimed to address long-stagnant projects that are likely to be wasteful.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the committee is advocating for a strategic shift towards proactive measures to combat corruption and related issues. By focusing on prevention, the committee aims to curb these practices before they escalate, ensuring more efficient and effective governance. The discussions highlighted the importance of refining institutional frameworks to close gaps that could lead to misconduct, ultimately fostering a more transparent and accountable system.
