Contest on Japanese Law Launched for Vietnamese Community in Japan

Tokyo: A ceremony to launch the 2026 Japanese Law Knowledge Contest for the Vietnamese community in Japan was held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo on June 17. The contest is jointly organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Home Affairs, in cooperation with Japanese authorities, including the Ministry of Justice, the National Police Agency, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The launch event drew around 150 participants, including representatives from Japan's Immigration Services Agency, National Police Agency, Ministry of Justice, Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, as well as Vietnamese associations, business groups, and members of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the contest aims to enhance the understanding of Japanese law among the Vietnamese residents in Japan, fostering better integration and cooperation between the communities. The organisers emphasized the importance of this initiative in building a harmonious living and working environment for Vietnamese expatriates in Japan.

The event underscored the collaborative efforts between Vietnamese and Japanese authorities to address the growing Vietnamese population in Japan. This contest is seen as a significant step towards ensuring legal awareness and compliance among Vietnamese nationals residing in the country. Representatives from various Japanese agencies expressed their support and commitment to facilitating a successful contest.

The Vietnamese Embassy and its partners have been actively involved in community outreach programs, and this contest marks a continuation of their efforts to support the Vietnamese diaspora. The participation of key Japanese legal and law enforcement bodies highlights the shared interest in promoting legal knowledge and cultural exchange between the two nations.
