Deputy PM Calls on WHO to Further Support Vietnam’s Healthcare Reform

Hanoi: Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra on May 28 called on the World Health Organisation (WHO) to continue accompanying Vietnam in reforming its healthcare system and improving public healthcare services in the country's new development phase. During a reception in Hanoi for the WHO Representative in Vietnam Angela Pratt, Tra appreciated WHO's support for Vietnam's healthcare sector over the past 50 years, noting that the organisation's partnership helped the country achieve the Millennium Development Goals ahead of schedule.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Tra emphasized the critical role of WHO's continued support in the upcoming phases of Vietnam's healthcare reform. She highlighted the importance of WHO's expertise and resources in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery in Vietnam. The Deputy PM expressed her confidence in the potential for further collaboration with WHO to address the ongoing challenges in the healthcare sector and to ensure sustainable development in public health services.

The WHO Representative, Angela Pratt, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to supporting Vietnam in its healthcare initiatives. Pratt acknowledged Vietnam's progress in healthcare reform and expressed WHO's readiness to provide technical assistance and share best practices to facilitate the country's healthcare improvements. The meeting underscored the strong partnership between Vietnam and WHO, aiming to further strengthen healthcare systems and improve health outcomes for the Vietnamese population.
