Hanoi:Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc has called for immediate measures to address bottlenecks in the implementation of key projects within the industry, trade, and construction sectors.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the Deputy PM highlighted the critical importance of these sectors in driving economic growth, enhancing production capabilities, bolstering infrastructure, ensuring energy security, and improving the economy's competitiveness. These sectors are vital for achieving the double-digit growth target set for 2026 and the years beyond, with some projects showing positive progress.
However, reports indicate unresolved issues related to investment procedures, planning, land, site clearance, construction materials, implementation capacity, and agency coordination. The disbursement of public investment capital for key projects in construction and transport is lagging behind the national average, with several projects facing delays. Land allocation and leasing procedures, particularly affecting rest stops on the eastern North-South Expressway, remain problematic.
The Deputy PM has instructed ministries, central agencies, and localities to prioritize these projects politically, demonstrating strong leadership and proactive management. Efforts must focus on overcoming difficulties, accelerating project implementation, ensuring timely disbursement, and maintaining project quality.
Five key requirements were set to address outstanding issues, emphasizing the completion of investment procedures for expressway projects and the resolution of site-clearance problems for projects due in 2026. For the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2027, the Deputy PM stressed expediting the road project connecting Gia Binh Airport in Bac Ninh city with Hanoi.
The Hanoi and Bac Ninh People's Committees were urged to advance site clearance and resolve material supply issues, while investors should maximize resources and exploit favorable weather to meet project deadlines. An Giang province's People's Committee was also directed to hasten the construction of Phu Quoc International Airport and its infrastructure to meet the APEC 2027 requirements.
