Emergency Measures Underway as Typhoon Kajiki Heads to Central Coast

Hanoi: Emergency measures have been activated in the central provinces as Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth tropical storm to hit the East Sea this year, is moving towards the north-central coast. On August 25, Kajiki is forecast to be just offshore between Thanh Hoa and Quang Tri, sustaining winds of level 12-13, gusting to level 15. The storm will weaken as it moves inland, reaching the Laos-Thailand border on August 26 with winds down to level 6, gusting level 8, before weakening into a tropical depression.

According to Vietnam News Agency, authorities in the affected regions are coordinating efforts to mitigate the impact of the approaching typhoon. Preparations include the evacuation of residents from high-risk areas, securing infrastructure, and ensuring that emergency services are ready to respond.

Local governments have urged citizens to stay informed through official channels and to comply with evacuation orders and safety guidelines. The potential for heavy rainfall and strong winds is expected to pose significant risks, including flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Emergency response teams are on high alert, and resources are being mobilized to support affected communities. Relief supplies, including food and medical aid, are being pre-positioned to assist those in need.

The situation remains dynamic, and officials continue to monitor the typhoon’s path closely. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the storm approaches.
