Exhibition Traces Three Decades of Vietnam-US Diplomatic Relations

Hanoi: An exhibition opened in Hanoi on July 10 to commemorate the 30-year diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and the United States. The event marks a significant milestone leading up to the 78th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day on July 27. The exhibition is a comprehensive display that draws from a rich collection of materials provided by the National Archives Centre III, which operates under the Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs’ State Records and Archives Department, as well as contributions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam News Agency, the US Embassy in Vietnam, Texas Tech University’s Vietnam Centre and Archive, and personal stories from historical witnesses.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the exhibit not only highlights the diplomatic progress over the past three decades but also features the return of 200 sets of war records. These records serve as a testament to the evolving relationship between the two nations, showcasing efforts in reconciliation and mutual understanding. The exhibition aims to educate visitors on the historical context and significant events that have shaped the current state of Vietnam-US relations.

The collaboration between Vietnamese and American institutions, as well as the inclusion of personal narratives from those who experienced the events first-hand, provides a multifaceted view of the diplomatic journey. The exhibit stands as a reminder of the importance of preserving history and fostering international relationships through dialogue and shared experiences.
