Dak lak: Ghenh Da Dia, also known as the Rapids of Stone Plates, stands as one of the most popular destinations for visitors to Dak Lak province, formerly known as Phu Yen province. This geological marvel was created by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago and features uniquely shaped rock formations including round, hexagon, pentagon, and polygon structures.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Ghenh Da Dia is located in An Ninh Dong commune, Tuy An district, and is characterized by a stretch of coastline adorned with prismatic basalt columns that resemble plates stacked atop one another. The basalt formations originated from volcanic activity millions of years ago. As the lava cooled, it solidified and cracked into relatively uniform prismatic columns. These stone structures, positioned adjacent to the sea, were further shaped by wave erosion, which caused additional cracking and led to the formation of these distinct stone ‘disks’.
The combination of nature’s artistry and significant scientific value ha
s established Ghenh Da Dia as a treasured geological heritage site, earning its place as the heart of Dak Lak geopark.
