Hoi An city hosts 20th cultural exchange event with Japan

The UNESCO world heritage site of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam is hosting the annual ‘Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange’, the 20th of its kind, from August 2 to 4. The event, which was first held in 2003, showcases unique cultural activities, highlights the solidarity and friendship between Japan and Vietnam, and is an opportunity for Hoi An to attract tourists. This year’s event consist of 22 activities, including art performances and exhibitions such as cosplaying, traditional Japanese dolls exhibition. Most notably was the reenactment of a 17th-century wedding procession held for Vietnamese Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese businessman Araki Sotaro.
