Hue Nam Temple Festival Recognized as National Heritage

Hue: The Hue Nam Temple Festival, also known as the Hon Chen Temple Festival, held in the central city of Hue, has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This annual event takes place on the second and third days of the third lunar month, which fell on March 31 and April 1 this year. The festival is a significant cultural event that includes rituals dedicated to Thien Y A Na, also known as Lady Po Nagar, who is revered as the holy mother by the Cham ethnic community in the South Central region.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Hue Nam Temple Festival has developed over hundreds of years and continues to draw an increasing number of local residents and visitors from further afield. This recognition as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage highlights the festival’s cultural importance and its role in preserving the traditions and beliefs of the Cham community. The event not only serves as a spiritual gathering but also as a cultural attraction that showcases the rich heritage of the region.
