International Tourist Arrivals to Vietnam Hit Record High in Q1

Hanoi: Vietnam recorded more than 6 million international tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 29.6% increase year-on-year, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT). This is the highest-ever number so far and represents a 134% surge from the figure in Q1 of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. The tourism authority said visa waivers, marketing efforts, and upgraded promotional strategies are expected to support Vietnam’s goal of attracting 22-23 million international visitors in 2025.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the significant rise in tourist numbers can be attributed to several strategic initiatives by the tourism authority. These initiatives include an expansion of visa waiver programs and intensified marketing campaigns aimed at promoting Vietnam as a top tourist destination. The VNAT has also upgraded its promotional strategies, which are anticipated to play a crucial role in achieving the country’s ambitious target of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors by the end of 2025.

The VNAT’s efforts reflect Vietnam’s commitment to revitalizing its tourism sector post-pandemic, tapping into the growing demand for international travel. The record-breaking influx of tourists in the first quarter of 2025 highlights Vietnam’s increasing appeal as a destination of choice for travelers worldwide.
