HANOI: Eight military officers from Vietnam are set to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic and South Sudan. The Ministry of National Defence conducted a ceremony to officially present the State President’s and Minister of National Defence’s decisions to the officers, marking a significant step in Vietnam’s ongoing commitment to global peace initiatives.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the officers will join the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). This deployment is part of Vietnam’s broader strategy to contribute to international peace and stability efforts, enhancing its role and presence in global peacekeeping missions.
The ceremony underscored Vietnam’s dedication to supporting UN peacekeeping operations, which are crucial in conflict-affected regions.
