NA Leader Calls for Shift Towards Modern Urban Governance

Hanoi: National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has called for a fundamental shift from administrative urban management to modern and development-facilitating urban governance, emphasizing the need for a breakthrough legal framework. He stressed that the proposed Law on Urban Development should unlock the growth potential of Ho Chi Minh City and other urban centers across Vietnam. Chairman Man, who also serves as Secretary of the NA Party Committee, made these remarks while chairing a meeting between the Standing Board of the NA Party Committee and the Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the meeting took place in Hanoi on July 21, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in urban development. Chairman Man highlighted the need for a comprehensive legal structure that supports sustainable growth and modern governance approaches. He urged stakeholders to collaborate in implementing policies that would facilitate urban development and address the unique challenges faced by Ho Chi Minh City and other major urban areas in the country.
