Hanoi: The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee continued its fourth session on July 16, reviewing the draft law aimed at preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). The draft law is structured into four chapters and encompasses 37 articles, detailing the principles, measures, policies, and responsibilities of state agencies, organizations, and individuals in combatting the spread of WMDs. The law is intended to apply not only to Vietnamese organizations and individuals but also to foreign entities and individuals operating or residing within Vietnam.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the draft law aims to establish a comprehensive legal framework to address the risks associated with the proliferation of WMDs. By outlining clear responsibilities and measures, the law seeks to enhance national security and ensure compliance with international regulations. This legislative effort underscores Vietnam's commitment to global non-proliferation initiatives and its proactive stance in safeguarding regional and global peace.
