Hanoi: Party General Secretary To Lam paid floral tributes and offered incense to two of Vietnam’s most revered military leaders, Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap and Gen. Van Tien Dung, at their respective residence and memorial house in Hanoi on April 28. This gesture was made ahead of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, which is commemorated on April 30.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the tribute was a mark of respect and remembrance for the significant contributions of Gen. Giap and Gen. Dung to Vietnam’s military history. Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap is celebrated for his role in leading Vietnam to victory against French colonial forces, while Gen. Van Tien Dung is recognized for his leadership in the final Ho Chi Minh Campaign that led to the reunification of the country.
