Hanoi: Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on July 14 urged Phu Tho province to change its development mindset by prioritising high value added and high-tech investment while rejecting labour-intensive, outdated and environmentally harmful projects, to turn the northern locality into an industrial powerhouse of the country. Chairing a working session with the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee to review the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the province, PM Hung stressed that Phu Tho must capitalise on its strategic advantages, accelerate structural transformation and maintain double-digit growth to make greater contributions to the country's development.
According to Vietnam News Agency, PM Hung emphasized the importance of fostering investments that align with modern technological advancements and sustainability. He highlighted that Phu Tho, with its strategic geographic position, is well-placed to become a leader in the national industrial landscape. The focus on high-tech and high-value-added projects is expected to pave the way for continuous growth and greater economic contributions.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that by steering away from projects that are labour-intensive or environmentally detrimental, Phu Tho can set a precedent for other provinces. This approach is aligned with the country's broader economic goals, which include sustainable development and modernisation. The provincial leaders were encouraged to leverage local resources efficiently and to ensure that economic strategies are in line with national priorities.
PM Hung's call for transformation comes at a time when Vietnam is seeking to bolster its industrial capabilities and enhance its global competitiveness. The government continues to stress the need for provinces like Phu Tho to adopt innovative approaches and to remain adaptable amidst changing economic landscapes. The directives aim to ensure long-term prosperity and resilience for the region and the nation as a whole.
