Vientiane: As a leading example of Phu Tho Province's 'Xoan Singing in Schools' movement, Gia Cam Primary School in Viet Tri Ward has integrated ancient Xoan melodies into school life, allowing the sounds of drums, clappers, and traditional duet singing to resonate daily among nearly 2,000 students. Through class clubs, interest groups, and a core team of 250 students who regularly perform and participate in cultural events and local festivals, Phu Tho Xoan singing - recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - is being preserved and passed on through the students' genuine love and enthusiasm. According to Vietnam News Agency, the initiative aims to keep the traditional art form alive by embedding it into the educational framework. By involving students at a young age, the school is fostering an environment where cultural heritage is both celebrated and maintained. This approach not only ensures the survival of Xoan singing but also instills a sense of cultural pride and identity among the stu dents. Gia Cam Primary School's commitment to cultural preservation serves as a model for other schools in the region. The school's efforts highlight the importance of integrating cultural education into the curriculum, thereby creating a sustainable method for preserving intangible cultural heritage. The active participation of students in performances and festivals further aids in promoting and revitalizing the traditional art form within the community.
