Bonghwa: The Republic of Korea (RoK)-Vietnam global exchange took place on August 24 at the Chunghyodang relic site in Bongseong township, Bonghwa county, North Gyeongsang province, where Vietnam’s royal Ly lineage left its mark centuries ago. The event, co-hosted by Bonghwa county, the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ly clan in the RoK, aimed to foster locality-to-locality and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. It featured a topping-out ceremony for a new community centre, a Vietnam Culture Day, and the unveiling of King Ly Thai To statute in Vietnam village in Bonghwa.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the event brought together significant figures from both countries, emphasizing the historical ties between Korea and Vietnam. The new community centre is expected to serve as a hub for cultural and educational activities, further strengthening the connection between the two regions. The Vietnam Culture Day showcased various cultural aspects of Vietnam, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of Vietnamese traditions and heritage.
The unveiling of the King Ly Thai To statue was a highlight of the event, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the Ly Dynasty in the region. This statue is a tribute to the historical impact of the Ly lineage and is expected to become a focal point for cultural exchange activities in Bonghwa.
