Teach. Follow the flood situation in the North.

The Department of Agriculture closely monitors the flood situation in the North and is ready to help 2,241 rai of planting areas. Mr. Wirit Wisessin, Secretary-General of the Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB), revealed that the OCSB has been continuously monitoring and following up on the flood situation in the North. The latest report from local agencies in Sukhothai Province found that approximately 2,241 rai of sugarcane plantation areas have been affected by the flood situation, divided into approximately 1,741 rai in Sawankhalok District, approximately 300 rai in Si Nakhon District, and approximately 200 rai in Si Satchanalai District. The flood situation this time was a flash flood, with water flowing through the sugarcane plantation areas. In addition, sugarcane can withstand flooding to a certain extent, so there is no concern for the sugarcane plantation areas that are only temporarily flooded. However, the OAE has prepared assistance for sugarcane farmers affected by the floods by providing advice and guidelines for sugarcane rehabilitation after the water recedes. Sugarcane farmers who have registered as sugarcane farmers with the OAE can receive 3 tons of good-quality sugarcane each at the OAE regional offices to be used as seed for planting in the next season. In addition, on August 26, 2024, the executives of the 3 sugar factory associations, led by Mr. Rangsit Hiangrat and Mr. Phawit Kongkaew, donated 1,500 kilograms of sugar to Mr. Nattapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, to be used to make relief bags, 'Mind Smiles, Never Abandon Each Other', to be distributed to flood victims Source: Thai News Agency
