Hanoi: A ceremony was held on January 22 morning (the 23rd day of the final month of the Year of the Dragon) at Thang Long Imperial Citadel to showcase the traditional rituals of Kitchen God farewell and Neu pole erecting (a tall bamboo tree with red garment strips used to ward off evil spirits during Tet). The program re-enacted the rituals during the Lunar New Year that used to take place in the ancient Thang Long Imperial Citadel, expressing the wish for prosperity for the country and peace and prosperity for the people.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the event aimed to revive and promote cultural heritage by bringing ancient traditions back to life. The rituals are significant in Vietnamese culture, symbolizing the people’s hope for a prosperous new year and the expulsion of negative energies. The ceremony attracted many visitors, keen to witness the traditional practices that hold historical importance in Vietnam’s cultural landscape.
