US Navy Carrier Strike Group Visits Da Nang

Hanoi: A US Navy Carrier Strike Group, including the flagship aircraft carrier USS George Washington, arrived at Tien Sa Port in the central city of Da Nang on July 30, beginning a visit to Vietnam until August 5. The strike group also includes the guided-missile cruiser USS Robert Smalls (CG 62) and the guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86).

According to Vietnam News Agency, the visit by the US Navy Carrier Strike Group is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic and military relations between the United States and Vietnam. This visit marks a significant event in the naval cooperation between the two nations, providing opportunities for joint exercises and cultural exchanges.

The arrival of such a prominent naval group underscores the strategic importance of the region, as well as the commitment of the US to maintaining a presence in the Asia-Pacific area.
