Vietnam Can Deepen Role in Global Semiconductor Supply Chain: Taiwan-Based Expert

Hanoi: Vietnam is well-placed to embed itself more deeply into the global semiconductor value chain if it can capitalise on its competitive edges and develop a suitable ecosystem, according to experts. Vietnam's biggest takeaway from Taiwan isn't just cutting-edge technology alone, but how to build an entire semiconductor ecosystem from the ground up, said Dr. Vo Duc Thang, Assistant Professor at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) and President of the Vietnam Innovative and Intellectual Network in Taiwan (China) (VIN Taiwan) told the Vietnam News Agency.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Dr. Thang emphasized that Vietnam's potential lies not only in adopting advanced technologies but also in learning from Taiwan's comprehensive approach to establishing a robust semiconductor industry. This involves creating a supportive infrastructure that fosters innovation and collaboration among key stakeholders in the sector. By doing so, Vietnam can leverage its existing advantages and position itself as a crucial player in the global semiconductor market.

Dr. Thang highlighted that Vietnam possesses several competitive edges, including a skilled workforce and strategic geographical location, which can be instrumental in attracting foreign investments and partnerships in the semiconductor field. He suggested that by focusing on building a conducive ecosystem, Vietnam can facilitate the growth of domestic semiconductor companies and encourage international collaboration.
